Almost everyone talks about artificial intelligence. New technology is already being successfully introduced and used in many areas of our lives. Education is considered to be one of the most conservative sectors, where every innovation is extremely lukewarm. But the possibilities of artificial intelligence can solve the difficult problems faced by students and teachers and improve the quality of education. Working technologies and methods have already appeared, which are actively used by large educational centers.

Adaptive learning

Adaptive learning is one of the most important areas for the introduction of artificial intelligence in the educational field.

When organizing the process of learning something, a specific problem always arises: future students have different levels of initial knowledge and abilities to master the curriculum. Not to mention motivation. As a result, every teacher is faced with an unsolvable task: how to convey the most important things to the “weak” and at the same time give the necessary load to capable students?

The solution to this problem lies in the introduction of adaptive technologies. In theory, artificial intelligence will monitor the progress of each student and form an individual learning plan for him, choosing the most successful sequence of topics and tasks. Another option is to inform the teacher about the degree of assimilation of certain blocks of the course based on the analysis of each student’s learning.

Experimental implementation of such techniques is already underway in many large technology companies. Unfortunately, in most countries, when talking about high-tech education, everyone means distance education, which retains the shortcomings of classical linear courses.

Elements of adaptive technologies are quite successfully introduced into courses in php programming, design and language learning.


Distance learning means passing exams in the same, remote form. To control the “honesty” of the student in this case is a very difficult task. For this, proctoring technologies are being developed – spying on students while writing control and examination papers. Previously, this meant monitoring a student through a webcam.

Now everything is much more complicated. Artificial intelligence is trained to track all the dealers at once and “notices” a large number of details: are there “extra” people in the frame, are there extraneous voices in the room, is the student trying to switch the tab in the browser or turn on extraneous programs, how often does he look away from the monitor. Having registered suspicious actions, the system notifies the human proctor. It connects to a specific webcam and exercises personal control over the dealer.

These two directions are not the only ones, but the most promising in the field of education. There are already specific developments on them that are used by large companies. Do not forget that this is a very young technology, whose potential is just beginning to unfold.
